Love, Music and Otaku - Chapter 6

~CHAPTER 6~

“Tomorrow’s the competition, are we all ready?” Kuroyukihime asked. “We’ll practice for one last time before we’re all going home.”

“Haaaaaaaai!” Kii squealed, excited for the competition. “This is the first music competition I’ve ever had, not like Kise-niichan, every year he’s going for *official* competitions.” Kii then had a bit of a dark aura surrounding her.

If looks could kill, I think her brother’d be dead now. Oreki thought.

I have a feeling Kii-chan’s gonna kill Kise... Kuroyukihime thought.

“Etto... who’s Kise-niichan?” Yuka asked.

“I haven’t told you yet, Yuka-senpai, I’m actually Kise Ryouta’s imouto,” Kii explained.

“Wait, the Kise Ryouta?!” Yuka was shocked, then she fainted.

“O-oi!! Yuka-senpai!!” Kii said. “It’s not a big deal, really. I’m a total opposite of him.”

“Uh, well... I guess that’s true...” Oreki laughed nervously. No, she’s *really* a total opposite of him.

“I knew that already when I first saw Kii,” Satoshi said, brimming with confidence. But he twitched a little in his lower half body.

“No, you’re lying!” Oreki confronted.

“Look, we’re going off-topic again here,” Kuroyukihime said, shaking her head. “Let’s just practice now.”

So the LMC practiced for one last time, and then everyone went home.

It was finally on the day of the competition, and everyone decided to meet up at the entrance of the venue. Kii was the first to arrive(she couldn’t sleep) with Oreki, then Kuroyukihime, Satoshi and Yuka. All of them made sure they had their instruments with them.

“Alright, looks like everyone is here, let’s go!” Kuroyukihime said, walking towards the competitors’ area. Lots of them were elderlies, because less and less young people didn’t want to participate anymore.

“Looks like today’ll be easy,” Oreki commented.

“Oreki, don’t underestimate them,” Yuka said, annoyed. “They’re pros!”
Yuka was right. The LMC observed the other elderlies performing, and it seemed like they were professionals.

“Don’t mind Yuka-chan, she’s really sensitive and caring to them,” Kuroyukihime assured, smiling.

“H-Hime-san!!” Yuka pouted.

Then, it was finally time to go on stage.

“Alright, everyone, we’re gonna fill the whole area with music!” Kii said.

Kyoukai no Kanata
Kodoku ga hoho wo nurasu  nurasu kedo
Yoake no kehai ga shizuka ni michite
Watashi wo sora e maneku yo
Kibou ga kanata de matteru  sou da yo iku yo

Surechigau ishiki  te ga fureta yo ne

Kanashii hibi wa mou iranai
Tagai wo uketomete  ikiru yorokobi ni
Kitto kitto  futari mezameru yo

Mayoi nagara mo kimi wo mitsuketa yo...

(Note: I’ve spotted the word ‘akashi’ 3 times today in either anime song lyrics or title.... o_o)

The audience clapped loudly. “Arigatou gozaimashita, minna-san!” The LMC bowed.

After all the competitors have finished, it was finally time to announce the winner.

“The winner is.... The Light Music Club from the Otaku and Gaming School!:

(Note: Sorry, I’m kinda bad at describing these.. ;w; It’s kinda awkward, actually xD Enough of my rants, let’s continue with the story)

The LMC jumped in delight. They could finally perform on a stage!

On Monday, Kii received a paper on the upcoming neighbourhood festival they’re gonna perform on. She looked at the time given to the LMC to perform, and they needed to perform at least 5 songs. They only had a practice time of 3 weeks.

During practice in the music room, the LMC discussed on the songs to use.

“We’ll have to abandon time to play SAO if we want to fill the time in there,” Kii concluded. “Although it’s hard not to play SAO.”

“Fukou da...” Oreki said.

“What about homework?” Satoshi asked.

“We’ll ask the teacher to convert them into non-otaku subjects, so we can do them in real life.”

“Seems good,” Kuroyukihime approved.

“U-uh.. good for me too...” Yuka approved too.

“I hope I don’t get all of those wrong, I haven’t done them in a long time,” Oreki joked.

“Okay, we need to decide on the songs now,” Kuroyukihime said. “We’ll need 5 songs. Just nice, all of us will sing one song then.”

“W-wait!! I...” Satoshi hesitated. “I’m a bad singer.”

“What?!” Kii was surprised.

Satoshi decided to prove all of them that he was a bad singer. “Okay, listen to this.”

It was the most painful moment ever for their ears. Worst than the worst songs ever. Wait, maybe it could be the worst of the worst.

“O-okay, I think I can understand now,” Kii said. “I’ll sing two songs then, since I’m the leader.”

“Uh, and for me... I don’t think boys can sing--” Oreki was cut off by Kii.

“Kazuto-kun’s trying to say he’s normal at singing!” Kii lied, stepping onto Oreki’s shoes just to warn him. “I’ve heard you sing before.”

“When?!!”

“While I was passing by... you didn’t see me.” Kii giggled.

“I see... then Oreki-kun will be one of the singers!” Kuroyukihime smiled.

“Argh!! Fukou da!!” Oreki said, annoyed.

“I don’t think Kii-chan will have enough energy to sing two songs in a row,” Kuroyukihime assumed. “How about this? Kii-chan will sing first, then me, then Yuka-chan, then Oreki-kun, then Kii-chan again.”

“Ah!! It’s a good idea, I approve!” Kii said in delight. Oreki and others nodded too. “Now we just need the songs. Do you mind if I choose the songs?”

“No problem, you’re the leader,” Kuroyukihime said.

“I’ll do Crossing Field(Sword Art Online) and Utsukushii Zankoku na Sekai(Shingeki no Kyojin), Hime-senpai will do Burst the Gravity(Accel World), Yuka-senpai will do My Soul, Your Beats!(Angel Beats) and Kazuto-kun will do great escape(Shingeki no Kyojin).”

Everyone nodded. It’s as if Kii thought out the songs perfectly! “Oh yeah, Kii-san, you said you’re gonna invite some people...” Yuka said.

“O-oi! Yuka-senpai! Why did you remind her of that?!” Oreki facepalmed.

“I’m going to invite Kuroko-senpai!” Kii immediately shot out. “I mean, he’s nearest to us and I haven’t seen him for a while!”

“Uh.. that’s fine with us,” Kuroyukihime said. If she’s reacting like this, that means no one can stop her... She laughed nervously a bit. Maybe Yuka shouldn’t have reminded Kii-chan about this.

“Then, should we go now?” Kii asked, her eyes glittering.

“Go where...?” Oreki asked, feeling a bit nervous.

“Seirin High! It’s just 15 min walk from here!” Kii squealed in delight.

Knew it... Everyone else thought. She’s unstoppable.

“What’s the long face for? I haven’t met the Generation of Miracles for more than 1 year! Let’s hurry up and meet Kuroko-senpai already! I wanna see how they’re doing!” Except for Akashi-senpai. Kii pouted. “I’m so lucky Kise-niichan gave me the list of schools they went to!”

“Ah... hai... hai...” Oreki said, sighing.
“Kii-san seems like a hard time to you guys...” Yuka noticed.

“She is,” Satoshi said. “But Oreki feels the pain more than us.”

After a 15 min walk, the LMC finally stepped into Seirin High.

“Kii-chan, do you know where he is?” Satoshi asked.

“I think I do...” Kii said, thinking.
“You think?!” Oreki facepalmed. “Fukou da!”

“But don’t you think we’re interrupting their practice?” Kuroyukihime asked.

“I’m sure Kuroko-senpai is there!” Kii affirmed, ignoring Kuroyukihime. She led the LMC to the door of the indoor basketball hall. Kii opened the door. Squeaking shoes could be heard.

“Kuroko-senpaaaaaaaaaai!” Kii greeted loudly in delight.

Everyone stopped for a while, and looked at the girl with golden-yellow hair tied in twin tails and a guitar slung behind her.

“Osashiburi desu, Kii-san,” Kuroko greeted back.

“Huh? Kuroko, you know her?” Kagami asked.
“Yes, Kagami-kun, she’s the imouto of Kise-kun,” Kuroko explained.

“WHAAT?!!” The whole of Seirin (except for Kuroko) was shocked.

“It’s not a big deal, anyway. I’m not a basketball prodigy like Kise-niichan,” Kii bluntly said. “You could say I’m a total opposite of him.”

“What are you here for?” Riko asked. “My name’s Aida Riko, the manager and coach of the Seirin basketball team.” Flat-chested, good! Riko thought, looking at Kii’s chest. I finally have someone worse than me!

“We just want to invite Kuroko-senpai for the upcoming neighbourhood festival, you know. Everyone else can come too, although it’s okay if you can’t come. We’re gonna perform there.” Kii explained.

“I see..” Riko said. “Well, I don’t mind if they go, but I’ll be busy, so I won’t be coming. The third-years, too.” (Note: In this fanfic’s timeline, a year has passed, so now Kuroko and Kagami and others are second-years now while Hyuuga and Kiyoshi and Riko and others are third-years now.)

“Then that leaves the second-years,” Kiyoshi said.

“Um, Coach, Kii-san, I’ll go with Kagami-kun,” Kuroko said. “I feel that both of us need a break for a while.”

“Oi! Kuroko!” Kagami was angry. “Why are you deciding things on your own?”

Kuroko slapped his hand onto Kagami’s face, shutting him up. (Note: LOL! Just had to include some KuroKaga stuff here ;3) “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Kagami-kun.”

“That’s fine.. but... who’s Kagami?” Kii asked.

“My new light,” Kuroko replied.

“I see,” Kii said, understanding what he had meant. “Anyway, we haven’t done introduction yet. My name’s Kii Ryouta.”

“I’m Oreki Kazuto.”

“Hello, I’m Kuroyukihime.”

“Yo, I’m Nakamura Satoshi.”

“U-uh... n-nice to meet y-you, I’m Homura Yuka...”

“Kuroko Tetsuya desu. Nice to meet you.”

“Kagami Taiga.”

“Okay, so we’ll be leaving then!! Ja nee~!!” Kii said in a cheerful tone and she closed the door and walked off. (Note: Forgive me if I didn’t write this in a way you expected, since Kuroko is my anime crush, I get really embarrassed if I type his name o/////o And thus my performance stats goes down a little ;w;)

Kuroyukihime said, “Okay, now shall we go practice?”

“Yeah!!” Everyone cheered as they went back to their school to practice.

That night, Kuroko and Kagami walked home together(as usual).

“Oi, Kuroko, could you explain to me more about that Kii?” Kagami asked.

“Yes, Kagami-kun,” Kuroko replied. (Note: Here comes Kuroko’s description of Kii in his point of view!) “Kii-san is Kise-kun’s imouto.”

“I know that already!”

“Well, she’s good at music, but bad at sports, especially basketball. That’s why she said she’s the total opposite of Kise-kun, and she’s always carrying a guitar on her back. She likes playing the guitar, although she can also play the piano well. She’s always seen alone, since she doesn’t like to make friends unless they’re otakus. Oh yes, that reminds me, she’s a hardcore otaku and probably has 50+ anime stuff inside her room. She also dislikes Akashi-kun, because she doesn’t like being ordered around. Kii-san is the only person who has enough courage to stand against him.”

“Eh... I see...” Kagami replied.

~END OF CHAPTER 6~

Note: Yeah I know this chapter is quite long.. can’t help it ;w; gomen! The meeting with Kii and Shirai & Misaka will be in the next chapter, sorry! ^^”
