Chapter 5

“Alright, you may come in now!” Suzumiya-sensei called out to the front door of the HQ. Misaka, Ryoko, Yato and Yukine stared hard at the door, wondering who were they going to meet.
The door opened, revealing 4 high schoolers from Otogi High School - a short girl with yellow and long twintails, a boy with dark brown hair and emerald green eyes, a girl with long, silky black hair and a purple and violet butterfly hairclip, and lastly, a girl with long, silky, silverish-white hair and a violet and purple hairclip.
What’s with this aura they’re giving out..... It’s like they’re superior to us! Misaka opened her mouth wide in agape.
Are they stronger... Than us? Ryoko questioned herself, her eyes narrowing at the sight of the yellow-haired girl.
Sugeee!! This is awesome! Sparkles appeared around Yato.
Are the last 2 girls twins?! Yukine asked himself, feeling surprised as this was the first time he had seen twins.
“Wait! The yellow-haired girl.. You have two eye colours!” Misaka noticed, pointing to the yellow-haired girl. True enough, she had one yellow left eye and one red right eye.
“Suzumiya-sensei, I hope you aren’t wasting our time,” The yellow-haired girl sighed at the act of Misaka. “We’re busy. Besides, she shouldn’t point her fingers at others. It’s utterly rude.”
“Aren’t you being too blunt?” The boy chuckled nervously, whispering to the girl. “We don’t want to scare the lower-rank members.”
“Hey! What do you mean by ‘lower-rank?! We’re strong!” Ryoko had heard what the boy said. She gritted her teeth, wanting to punch him.
“Konnichiwa! My name’s Kuroyukihime, and this is my twin younger sister Shiroyukihime!” The black-haired girl introduced herself as she showed Yato the girl with silverish-white hair. She inched nearer and bent forward, causing her nose to touch his. “Hope we work well in the future, alright?” Then she winked.
Yato blushed with his face as red as a ripe tomato. “U-Uh, s-same here...”
At the sight of seeing her “boyfriend” getting close to another girl, Misaka bit her lips, trying not to show her anger and disappointment.
“Kuro-neesama, I know you’re really flirty, but someone’s getting upset~!” Shiroyukihime said in the sweetest way possible. “Besides, if I really want anyone, it has to be the kawaii short guy over here~!” She looked at Yukine into the eye.
“I’m not short!” Yukine protested, steam coming out from his ears. He hated being called ‘short’.
“Everyone, please quiet down!” Suzumiya-sensei shushed. “Take a seat, and I’ll explain why I gathered you all here.”
Actually, Misaka had heard rumors about another “4 members”, but she didn’t know it was true.
“The girl with 2 different eye colours is called Kii Ryouta, the boy beside her is Oreki Kazuto, and the 2 twins are Kuroyukihime and Shiroyukihime!” Suzumiya-sensei did the introduction for them. “And, well, the Otogi Students’ Association actually has 8 members -- 4 in the higher rank and 4 in the lower rank. Mikoto-san, Ryoko-san, Yato-san and Yukine-san are in the lower rank while Kii-san, Kazuto-san, Kuroyukihime-san and Shiroyukihime-san are in the higher rank.”
Misaka shot up her hand. “Why are we in the lower rank?!”
“Well, because you guys just formed a few weeks ago, thus we’re still assessing you and whatnot,” Suzumiya-sensei smiled, although it seems to be chiding Misaka and others for not cooperating well when they first formed. “They were formed at the start of the year.”
Suzumiya-sensei’s reply shut Misaka up. She continued to report the current situation.
“As I have said, from now on we’re accepting help from family members or relatives related to the Otogi Students’ Association members. Kii-san, you may speak now.”
Kii stood up and cleared her throat. “My brother, Kise Ryouta, and his friend, Takao Kazunari, is trying to find out a truth about their friend, Aomine Daiki’s, boyfriend, which is Kagami Taiga. Kagami-senpai seems to be cheating on Aomine-senpai, so Kise-niichan and Takao-senpai are trying to stalk Kagami-senpai to find out whether this is true or not.”
What the hell?! Her brother’s gay?! Ryoko shot a dirty look to Kii. She just glared back, as if asking Ryoko to shut up. But then something hit Ryoko when she heard the word “Kagami”. She had forgotten to tell others the clues she had found! Sensing an opportunity, she immediately shot her body up. “By ‘Kagami Taiga’, do you mean the 190cm guy who plays basketball?!”
“.... Yes, and it seems you have something to tell us. Go on,” Kii said as she sat down.
Ryoko explained everything(specifically about the man’s attack), even about the shot into the wrong goal. “After Misaka shot the wrong goal, ‘Kagami’ shouted to us because she interrupted his practice session. Then, I spotted another shorter girl beside him, ‘Tora’, with her left arm wounded. I remembered that Yato had injured the culprit’s left arm, so it might be her. I made an excuse to get away from Misaka. After that, I went to hide in the bushes to ‘investigate’ about ‘Kagami’ and ‘Tora’. ‘Tora’ was sweating profusely even though ‘Kagami’ claimed that they had only been playing for 10 minutes. And, ‘Tora’ had problems with shooting as her left arm was injured. These are all the things I know.”
“...” Kii contemplated for a while. “Very well, Ryoko, you’re in charge of this. The others may help her too.”
Upon hearing this, Ryoko widened her eyes in shock. “But... Why me?!”
“I have my reasons.”
“And that’s all, we’re leaving now,” Kazuto stood up, preparing to leave.
The twins smiled sweetly, and the 4 of them left the HQ.
“Well, the mission will start tomorrow, as Kise-san and Takao-san are going to begin to stalk Kagami-san tomorrow, during the evening at 6pm. Kagami-san and Tora-san will be out on a grocery shopping at the nearby supermarket. Ryoko-san will be in charge of the combat if Tora-san tries to attack. If her left arm acts up again, then the others will act as backup. Any questions?” Suzumiya-sensei explained clearly about tomorrow’s mission. Everyone nodded their heads. “Dismissed!”
Ryoko and Misaka were walking home together.
“Oh right, the 4 of them didn’t explain their abilities to us. I need info on that,” Misaka said, recalling about the events in the HQ. “They seem pretty strong.”
But Ryoko wasn’t concerned about that. “This is the first time Otogi Students’ Association is accepting help from people other than students, and this is about Kii’s family member. I have a feeling she changed the rules... With authority, of course.”
Misaka suddenly halted. “Does that mean... She’s the captain or vice-captain of the whole club?!”

Yato and Yukine were back at their shrine. Yukine lay down on the wooden floor, thinking about the twins. “Hey, Yato, why do you think we are separated into two different ranks?”
Yato took a basin of pure water from the shrine’s water source and poured it over his head to refresh himself. “Ehh.. I don’t know... But it must be something important.”
