A/N: So guys long time no see :) here's a random short fic featuring Mayuzumi Chihiro(KNB) and I ><
"T-These are heavy," I groaned, struggling with weight of eight light novels in a plastic bag. "Senpai, why are you doing this to me?!"
He looked pretty deadpan, as usual, and simply said, "Heavy? Then you gotta do more strength training. Those are yours. It's your own responsibility."
"I'm not an athlete like you!"
"Too bad, I don't give a damn."
"Ughhhhh," I groaned louder than ever. But he was right, I needed more PE lessons to keep myself fit. Then again, these light novels were partly paid by Mayuzumi.
We walked down the street and towards our neighbourhood. It was a coincidence that we lived in opposite blocks, but I liked it. He's a nice person, although his sarcasm can burn. Actually, he could be a best friend. I've been getting that vibe from him for a while now. We both liked the anime culture and disliked talking to people. Hey, maybe one day I should pester him to read manga? Oh yeah, I have SAO DVD at home!
"Hey, I've been wondering," Mayuzumi began, "do you have any motives for clinging onto me? Don't you have friends in your class too?"
"Well.. friends, huh..." I sighed deeply in disappointment. "I don't even want to talk to my classmates. I don't really have any friends in my class."
"Are you kidding me? Your weird personality should at least attract... other weird people."
"..." I chuckled. "I hide it under my facade. I hate talking to people, you know. It's suffocating in the classroom. Sometimes, I just wish I could take lessons on my own... or at least switch classes. But you know, senpai, ever since I met you, I really want to be best friends with you. It's just an... intuition. We don't need a reason to be friends, right?"
He looked away for a second. "Then, what's the purpose of coming to school?"
"Grades," I replied almost instantly, "grades are important to our future. I have to get good grades. I must."
"Idiot."
"What? I'm just stating the truth!"
"What's with that mindset? Sounds like Akashi to me," he commented a little sarcastically. "Well, I can't say anything either. Not like I have any friends in my class too, anyway."
"But is that what you really think?" he continued asking. "To me, it feels like you're forcing yourself to. Trying to escape from something using grades as an excuse?"
I stared at him with wide eyes. When did Mayuzumi get so smart? How did he know?
"Tch," he mouthed. "You know, I read a book about having 'sparkles' in our eyes. If we're enjoying life to the fullest, our eyes shine and sparkle. But when I look at you," he turned to face me, "They're only dimly glowing."
I continued staring and taking in his words. "Hey... senpai... I didn't know you liked this type of stuff! Metaphorical stuff!" And thus I started laughing heartily.
"Cut it out, it's creepy!" He sighed.
"But anyway, Mayuzumi-senpai, I'm really glad I met you, okay?"
