Description
Featuring Misaka Mikoto(electricity), Ookami Ryoko(wolves), Yato & Yukine(Supernatural), all of them couldn't get along with each other. So, how are they going to resolve their conflicts and work together to defeat all the villains? A teacher named Suzumiya Momoko decides to let them form a club called Otogi Students' Association, named after Otogi High School, the school which the 4 of them are studying in. What will happen between the 4 of them?
Chapter 1
This is written by Ichigo.
“Ookami Ryoko,” The notorious delinquent introduced herself, not looking to everyone’s eyes. The former 7-member group had instantly sprung up to 8 members. Ryoko used her shoulder to support her hand holding her bag, holding it in a way a tomboy would. Her eyes spoke full of rebellious expressions, and anyone who doesn’t know her well would stay 5 metres away from her in fear of their lives being threatened.
Ryoko wore her previous school’s uniform. It was a navy blue sailor seifuku with a red ribbon and white linings, and a super long black skirt that almost reached her ankles. She had long light brown-coloured hair, and at the end it was tied like a wolf’s tail.
The nicknamed Railgun, Misaka Mikoto, had no idea why she found Ryoko intriguing. Misaka had her eyes on Ryoko since Ryoko first came to their HQ.
“Well, as you can see, Ryoko-san will be joining us from now on. She’s a transfer student that just transferred here today. Her boxing skills are especially good, and she doesn’t depend on any virtual reality skills, supernatural powers or esper abilities,” Suzumiya-sensei explained, her eyes following the words on her clipboard she was holding onto.
But Misaka felt a sheer feeling of rivarlry rush through her veins as Ryoko sat down reluctantly beside her. It’s as if she was forced to join this club.
Making friends wasn’t Misaka’s forte. It wasn’t Ryoko’s either, so they just sat coldly beside each other.
“Mikoto, don’t worry~! Just say your name and chat friendly!” Yato gave a thumbs up sign, and winked, whispering to Misaka. Yukine nodded his head hard in strong approval, as if he wanted Misaka and Ryoko to be best friends.
Misaka took a deep breath as she calmed herself down. Normally she’d smack Yato’s head for giving the wrong suggestion, but this time round she decided to heed it.
“Ahem, I’m Misaka Mikoto, nice to meet you...”Misaka stuck out her hand nervously as she waited for a handshake in return.
“Sorry, I don’t do handshakes.”Ryoko folded her arms, rudely declining Misaka’s handshake offer.
W-What?!! Misaka was stunned, knowing that this was Ryoko’s stuckup personality. She had originally thought that quiet people had more friendly inner selves, but Ryoko was an exception.
“Ookami-san, that kind of attitude is not acceptable,”Misaka clenched her fists, biting her lips to contain her anger. “Besides, I’m your senpai, and--”
“So what? Just because you’re one year older than me doesn’t mean you can boss me around. Besides, if we really want to do this, then isn’t it more compatible if we use our fighting skills to compete?”
“Whaaaaattt?!! How could you--”
“Everyone please STOP!” Suzumiya-sensei’s voice boomed, finally halting the 2 lifelong rivals’ squabbles. Both of them stepped back from each other. Yato and Yukine watched in shock as they never knew both of them would be at loggerheads at each other.
“Sensei, why did you even ask Ookami-san to join our club? Damn it!” Misaka thrusted her body down on an armchair, hugging a soft pillow tightly.
“I never asked to join anyway,” Ryoko retorted coldly. “I’d rather be on my own.”
“This club will never accept individualists! Misaka-san, Ryoko-san, reflect on your actions! Well then, now I will set your very first assignment -- get along and work together. If not, I’ll disband the club!” Suzumiya-sensei declared in utter exasperation. “You’re all dismissed!” She stormed out of the HQ.
It left the whole room in complete silence.
“Uhh... Mikoto-san... Ryoko-san... Please get along...” Yukine pleaded desperately. He didn’t want a club which was filled with happy memories be disbanded.
Misaka and Ryoko still didn’t budge.
“Yukine’s right!” Yato supported Yukine. “Even I have quarrels with Yukine too! So you see, everything will be okay once you forgive each other!”
Misaka sighed at Yato’s naive personallity. “Yatogami, if arguments could work that way, then why did the WWI and WWII start?! Ryoko’s being rude!”
“I’m not being rude! I’m just stating the facts!”Ryoko’s eyebrows were knitted together. “Besides, I’d rather the club be disbanded!”
“H-How could you say that?!” Yukine shaked with anger, his eyes starting to water. “Take back your words!”
“I refuse!”
Yukine stared at Ryoko’s face, feeling the cold shivers down his spine. He started to have wild thoughts. Unable to contain his anger any longer, he rushed out of the room. Suddenly, Yato felt an intense sting on his neck and he moaned in pain.
“Y-Yato?” Misaka immediately propped herself up from the armchair, only to find Yato carressing his neck to soothe the pain. “Yukine’s thoughts and emotions again?”
“Duh,” Yato replied. Noticing that Ryoko looked a bit confused about this, he explained, “Gods and shinkis have a very close relationship, and the god can know what the shinki is thinking about. If the shinki is thinking of negative thoughts, the god can suffer some pain in some parts of the body. But if it’s severe, the shinki may turn corrupted and it has to be disposed of.”
“.... Hmm, I thought gods doesn’t exist?” Ryoko tried to tease Yato.
“What do you mean?! I’m a real god! A god of calamity! I’m way way way way waaayyyy older than your grandmother! And for your information, Yukine’s already dead as he’s a shinki.”
“But Science and Magic(Supernatural) are natural enemies. How did you become a team anyway?”
“Shut up, Ookami-san,” Misaka disrupted Ryoko. “If you have nothing good to say, just shut up.”
“Well, whatever,” Ryoko ignored Misaka. “I’m leaving.” She stalked off with her school bag.
And it was left with Misaka and Yato in the HQ.
Misaka stayed in silence. Then something hit her. I’m in a room.. Alone with Yatogami..... Wait, what does that mean?!! She flinched and shook her head vigorously to shake off romantic thoughts.
“Uhh, Mikoto, are you o--”
“I’m absolutely okay! Nothing to worry about!!” Misaka had to turn her back on Yato as she didn’t want others to see her soft side. Well, she’s blushing really hard.
“But you just had a quarrel with Ryoko and I’m just scared you guys would never reconcile...” Yato was concerned about this matter but not the other one.
Noticing that Yato was concerned about the argument rather than the romantic stuff, Misaka felt like smacking Yato’s head. “Never mind,” she replied coldly. “I’m leaving too.”She walked solemnly out of the HQ.
And then it was left with Yato -- the “last man standing”. He sighed to himself, and immediately teleported to the outside to find Yukine. (A/N: The teleportation here isn’t esper ability, but a supernatural ability.)
Ryoko sulked as she walked down the street, keeping a 5-metre distance from the people around her. Actually, it should be the opposite. And now, she hates the world more than ever. She hates Misaka more though. Why was she joining the club in the first place anyway? This made her reminisce about the past.
Flashback
“Ringo?? Ringo!!”Ryoko called out incessantly to her severely injured best friend, Akai Ringo. But it was too late. Ryoko stared into Ringo’s glassy eyes, fearing the worst. She gave no response to the callings.
A few weeks later, Ryoko was spotted by Suzumiya-sensei at a nearby boxing club. Noticing that Ryoko had a tragic past, she called up on Ryoko and asked her whether if she wanted to transfer schools and join a club called Otogi Students’ Association.
“No,” Ryoko immediately shot down the offer. She didn’t want to lose anymore people which was dear to her, so she remained as a lone wolf from the day Ringo died.
“.... It’ll be fun, I promise,” Suzumiya-sensei smiled endearingly.
After much persuasion, Ryoko finally gave in and Suzumiya-sensei happily did the paperwork for her.
End of Flashback
Ryoko opened a can of soft drink and gulped it down like a hungry wolf. She took a breath and let it out. It refreshed her mind and body in the late evening.
All of a sudden, her sharp hearing picked up some suspicious footsteps, and her attention was immediately diverted to it. What could it be? She followed cautionly. the source of the sound.
To her surprise, she found Misaka -- and a very suspicious person following her. Although she hated Misaka, she didn’t want anything bad to happen to her. Ryoko sensed danger lurking.
