DCAKB Chapter 1

Chapter 1
The School Trip and the Challenge Letter

Ran, Conan, Sonoko, Kirito, Takamina, Yuuko and Victorique were walking to school together. They were chatting happily.
Takamina, Yuuko and Kirito enrolled into the Sword Art Online Student Survivors School(SAOSSS) after finishing that Sword Art Online(SAO) mission. The school was founded for the SAO survivors who were students. The syllabus taught was also according to Akibastar. It would be easy, since everyone knew each other. However, they still had their swordfighting skills. They also did not abandon their jobs as idols.

“Ah.... It’s a wonderful day....” Takamina commented, looking around at the beautiful scenery.

“I almost forgot! Today there’s a class briefing for a field trip! Our teachers say that we can invite other people too!” Ran said in delight. Everyone was excited.

“Yossha!!! Let’s all go since for the next two weeks the SAOSSS doesn’t have any classes!” Yuuko shouted and jumped.

“I’m not going,” Conan said. “I’d rather use my time for other uses than wasting time on a school trip.”

“Well, a brat like you won’t understand the fun of going on a school trip,” Sonoko sneered. “Then it’s confirmed! We’re all going except for Conan!”

“Hey, Conan-kun, you know, you can always change your mind, since this Friday is the school trip,” Ran persuaded.

Conan was still not changing his mind. “Ran-neechan, sorry, but I really don’t want to go.”

Meanwhile...

“Please! Please help find Shunsaku!” a lady begged, passing him a photo of a white dog.

“Yes yes, I will find him...” Kogorou agreed hesitantly, sending the lady off.

He threw that photo away. “Hmph! What Shunsaku?!! Is this the kind of work that the great detective Mouri Kogorou is supposed to take?!!”

He suddenly took a glance at Okino Yoko’s poster. “Gosh, what am I doing? It’s time for Yoko-chan! YOKO-CHAN!!!!!!!!!” He ran excitedly to the television and switched it on.

“I hear you’re in the middle of filming a new drama series?” a lady was interviewing Yoko.

Yoko answered, “Yes. I, Okino Yoko, will give a shot at my first detective role. Everyone, please come and see!”

Kogorou was excited. “What? What? What? What? What?!! Yoko-chan got the detective role?!” He adjusted the television, making sure everything was real.

“I hear you used someone as an example to help with getting into character as a detective,” the lady asked.

Kogorou said, following Yoko, “That would be...”

Yoko said, “That would be...”

“The famous detective...”

“The famous detective...”

“Mouri Kogorou-san!”

“Kudo Shinichi-kun!” Yoko laughed happily.

Kogorou immediately made a frown and fell down his chair.

“I’m a big fan of him! I wish I can meet him just once!” Yoko blurted out.

Kogorou slowly got up his chair. “Damn, that kid detective. Always, always getting more popularity than me.” He opened his canned drink. The water spilled out and splashed everywhere. “Oww!!! Crap, crap, crap, crap! I got wet, geez!”

Meanwhile, during class(Ran and Sonoko)...

Substitute Teacher - Kitajima Shingo

Kitajima reminded, “Also... Um... Tatsumi-sensei will be staying in the hospital longer than expected. Therefore, I will be going as tomorrow’s chaperone for the school trip as well. You can invite your friends and family too. Please submit your consent form on Wednesday as the school trip is on Friday.”

Everyone was chattering around. “Kitajima’s chaperoning!”

“Anyway, everyone please, as students of Teitan High School. Embrace a sense of responsibility so that it can be a fun and enjoyable trip,” Kitajima said.

Ran was smiling to herself as she flipped through the booklet of the places that they would go. “Travelling, huh...” She wanted Shinichi to go with her too, but lately he hasn’t made a call to her yet. Even if he did, he would always say he’s busy due to some cases and stuff. Sigh.
“I will be having you all submit a report of what your groups did, so please take note on those matters as well. That is all. Does anyone have any questions?” Kitajima said, finishing up his briefing. Then he left the classroom.

Meanwhile, someone was typing on a computer. He had gloves on.

School dismissal...

“I can’t wait!!” Ran was jumping excitedly. “We haven’t travelled together since our elementary graduation. Plus, Takamina and others are coming! We’ll go check out the museum, then Ashinoko! For free time at night, we’ll...”

Ran turned to her side. “Shinichi--” She realised that Shinichi wasn’t there. “Oh right...” She was disappointed that Shinichi is taking a long time to come back. “When is he coming back, that idiot?!!”

That night, Conan went to Professor Agasa’s house.

“So, you’re not going to the school trip with Ran and the others?” Haibara asked.

“Well, yeah...” Conan said. He suddenly had an instinct to check his house’s mailbox. “I’m going to check my house’s mailbox, gonna be back later.” Then he ran off.

There was one mail, stuck onto the gate. Conan had to tiptoe to get it. “So much for being small...”

The words on the envelope -- A Challenge Letter to Edogawa Conan.

“W-What?! A challenge letter?” Conan thought.
Unknown to him, someone was sneaking up to him, checking if he already saw the letter.

Conan looked back. No one was there. He smiled, “This is interesting.”

“Huh... so I wasn’t the only one who received this challenge letter,” a voice said, scaring Conan.

“Relax, it’s just me....” Victorique said, with her hands folded.
